WHAT IS THE RAIL CITY ROADSHOW?

The Rail City Roadshow is a touring film festival that travels across Canada and potentially beyond, to screen your films to as many people as possible.

WHY IS THERE AN APPLICATION FEE?

Running a traveling film festival is very expensive.  Just take into consideration all the gas, food and lodging that will be needed.  Not to mention all the marketing we would like to have so we can properly promote your film and this festival.  We would love to one day do away with application fees and just fund the festival from ticket sales but that day is not here yet.

WHY SHOULD I APPLY TO YOUR FILM FESTIVAL AND NOT THE 8 BILLION OTHER ONES?

Because the Rail City Roadshow offers something other festivals do not: distribution.  We take your film and bring it to different cities.  So if you get accepted your film may get seen by literally thousands more people than any one festival. It’s like getting accepted into 30 festivals.

WHAT TYPES OF FILMS DO YOU ACCEPT?

We accept feature and short films of any genre except documentary films.

WHY DON’T YOU ACCEPT DOCUMENTARY FILMS.

We love docs!  We just decided to try and narrow down the playing field to give a little more focus to the festival.  We may have Docs in future festivals of the Roadshow or even it’s own festival.

WHO DECIDES WHICH FILMS GET INTO THE FESTIVAL?

We have a panel of  judges who make recommendations to Adam Reider: the president of Rail City Media.  Adam will then make the final decision based on these recommendations.

WILL MY FILM BE SEEN BY THE JUDGES?

YES!  ALL films submitted will be watched and taken into consideration fairly.

WILL I GET FEEDBACK?

If your film does not get into our festival, you will get some notes about your film.  *NOTE:  It may be just a few sentences.  Also, we believe in helping filmmakers reach there full potential so we will be as constructive as possible.  Don’t take it personally. It’s just our opinion.  Take it or leave it.

IF MY FILM IS ACCEPTED, CAN I COME ALONG?

Yes you can but at your own expense.  In the future we would love to subsidize filmmakers to come on tour with the show but for now it will be at your own expense.  HOWEVER: if you are able to come to any of these shows, please let us know in advance to we can hook you up the best we can.
