MISSION:

The Rail City Road Show is an independent alternative to the average film festival, supports the art of independent film making. Our goal is to showcase peoples hard work to as many people as possible. The Rail City Roadshow is the middle ground between film festivals and distribution as we tour around from city to city showing your films.

WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT?

As a filmmaker, trying to get into film festivals is one of the most aggravating experiences.  It’s always such a gamble.  You submit your film, pay the application fee and wait for months to get one rejection after another.  Even if you do get in, unless it’s in one of the top festivals, your film gets very little recognition or screen time, playing once or twice in a crowded and over saturated environment.

I’ve been playing music for more than half my life and I have a lot of friends who are touring musicians.  One day I thought that if independent musicians can get the word out to people on their own by booking their own tour and selling their own merch, than so could I.

So this is the fundamental difference between the Rail City Roadshow and other festivals; if you get accepted, your film goes on tour and is shown not once, not twice, but closer to 30 times across the country and perhaps beyond.

The Rail City Roadshow is Canada’s greatest traveling film festival.
